Paula's Irish Stream

This is a pastel of a stream in Ireland done from a picture sent to me by a friend (PauIa). I was attracted by the peaceful scene but the photo was taken in mid-day light and much of the color was washed out. I wanted to bring the scene to life with eye-catching color but retain the tranquil nature of the setting. I did not do an underpainting for this pastel but rather just started with the darks and lights and worked my way forward.
