Under a Dripping Sky

I have painted this scene many times in pastel and with a variety of color palettes. I bought a set of pan pastels and was playing with the sponge applicator. Inspired by an abstract painting, I decided to simplify the scene and paint the clouds with the sponge shape, limiting the color palette and then adding texture/variation with the "drip" effect of turning the sponge on it's side representing the overcast/misty nature of the scene.
