Cat therapy
No matter how bad a day is, a cat purring on your lap makes everything better.

This small painting is of one of our rescues. He is a great stress reducer and he always knows when you've had a bad day. A line drawing was created in charcoal and a first layer of pastel helped identify darks and lights. I don't work from dark to light as many artists due. I try to identify both from the start. It helps me preserve my line drawing which acts as my framework. Softer pastels are used with some refining with pencils. This back-and-forth continues until the piece is finished.
