This image is from one of my favorite photos, taken on my very first solo multi-day backpacking trip in Washington's North Cascades. The concept of "home" has always been elusive for me, but when I'm in places like this, I know: I'm home. This pastel painting was done on Hahnemühle's Collection Sketch paper, which I have found to be amazingly versatile and amenable to soft pastels.
